Some people wait all year for Halloween. They spend months perusing Halloween decorations trying to find the perfect spooky ingredients for a screaming good time. I’m one of those people. I absolutely love the fun of dressing up and scaring my friends, but I just can’t afford all of those outrageously expensive animated toys. If you’re like me, here are some great cheap Halloween decorations:
Candelabra Centerpieces with Glow-In-the-Dark Flame
I love the Oriental Trading Company. There are absolutely tons of decorations for every occasion and they are cheap! This three piece set of glittering foam candelabras is only $7.99 from Oriental Trading Company. The flames are glow-in-the-dark green. Set a spooky scene with these without breaking the bank. They’re safe to use at a kids’ Halloween party because, even though the flame glows, it doesn’t pose a fire risk. No little Princess will bump your table and burn your house down when Frankenstein is chasing her!
Couch Creatures Scene Setter
Also from The Oriental Trading Company, this Scene Setter is a mere $1.97! That’s a price that absolutely can’t be beat. Scene Setters are so much fun because they completely transform your space. This Halloween decoration is incredibly cheap and more than worth the money. Remember to shop sales and clearance items when you’re looking for Halloween decorations. A lot of websites will offer deals like this one on great products from last year.
Spider webbing is hands down the cheapest Halloween decoration you can buy. To put it up you simply need a ladder or stool and a glue gun. Make sure you spread it thin to make it look more realistic. You never see clumpy spider webs, so don’t leave clumps in your spider web. One bag will go a long way! Use the glue gun to attach the spider webbing to your ceiling and upper walls. When the ghouls have gone away for another year and it’s time to put Halloween away, use a hair dryer on a warm setting. Heat the glue just a bit and it will come right off without damaging your paint. Spider web is available at just about every store from $0.50 to $4.00. It even comes in glow-in-the-dark colors!
Witches Bottle or Magic Scientist Bottles
You can create witches bottles or mad scientist bottles easily. Just visit your local Good Will or other second hand store. You can always find little odd shaped bottles and vases for next to nothing. Take a few bottles home and give them a good washing. Fill them with water and color it with food coloring. You can even drop in toy lizards or bugs you can find at Wal-Mart for $0.88. In the craft department at Wal-Mart you can find rub on letters in various styles. Grab a package and rub on ingredient labels like “eye of newt” or “soul of the wicked”. If you’d like to spend a little bit more and up the spookiness of your party, drop in a tiny bit of dry ice to make your bottles smoke. Don’t let it touch your skin, though. It will hurt!
The Fright Catalog on eBay
The Fright Catalog is an online Halloween store where you can find anything and everything you will ever desire for Halloween. Now, they have a store on eBay where auctions start at one little penny. You can pick up some fantastic Halloween decorations for practically nothing. You should definitely check out the original website as well.
