The Best Fall and Halloween Activities at Walt Disney World

There is a nip in the air, pumpkins abound, and there are little ghosts and goblins everywhere you look! It is that time of the year – Halloween! What better place to celebrate the fall season, or specifically Halloween, than at Walt Disney World?

WDW is a wonderful place any time of year, but it is especially fun during fall. The crowds are typically lower the summer and there are lots of fun activities for children and adults alike. The 2 most popular are Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party (MNSSHP) and the Food and Wine Festival.

Mickey’s Halloween Party takes place after hours at Disney’s Magic Kingdom on selected nights from early September through the end of October. After the park closes to regular guests, those that purchased party tickets can enter the park and enjoy 5 additional hours (7pm – midnight). While many rides are open, there are so many unique things that can only be experienced during the party. The Boo To You parade passes through twice, with all your favorite characters decked out in their holiday finest (http://allears.net/tp/mk/mnssh.htm).

Happy HalloWishes is the special fireworks display that is viewable from all over Magic Kingdom (even though I think Main Street offers some of the best views). In addition to these 2 events, trick or treating takes place at selected locations throughout the park. Once you have eaten some candy, dance away at some of the fun dance parties or enjoy the Villian’s Mix and Mingle. You can even find the characters in various locations wearing their favorite costumes(http://allears.net/tp/ep/foodwine.htm). Admission is included in your park ticket. Various booths are set up around the world showcase featuring food and drinks. The food is sold in appetizer-size portions and range up to $6 or so. Drinks are served in small glasses and provide a nice sized taste. If you are up for even more, there are various seminars, tastings and dinners that are featured. Some of these events require additional fees and advanced reservations. After spending the day eating and drinking, be sure to catch Eat to the Beat Concert (http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/parks/specialEvents?id=FoodWineEpcotCulinaryExperiencesSpecialEventPage). A band/group/individual will perform 3 times a night at the American Gardens Theater. Be sure to get there early to get a good seat and enjoy the show.

If you are lucky enough to be in WDW during the fall season, be sure to plan extra time in Epcot to sample food and wine and purchase your ticket to attend MNSSHP. These events shouldn’t be missed!
